In January, 2015, the Studio of John August Swanson was contacted by the owner of Mr. Swanson's 1987 Multi-Media (Watercolor and Metallic paints) painting, AMAZING DOG TRIO, and the artwork was repurchased by the studio. On February 2, 2015, the 12" x 9" painting was scanned at the Swanson Studio at 1300 DPI. At that time, it was decided by John August Swanson that the artwork should be hightend, and the dimmensions should be changed to 17.5" x 12", to match with his other available clown artworks, STAR CLOWN, PAPAGENO, GOOSE WITH THE GOLDEN EGG, and CRIMSON CLOWN.
By July 9, 2015, more enhancements and additional changes were made to the artwork. The size of the figure of the clown was brought down to match more with the other four clown works, a new rug and curtains were painted by Mr. Swanson to add to the art, and additional layers of stippling by Swanson were added to the work. Two versions were completed, one with a starburst pattern and one without. After these changes, the artist decided to proceed without the starburst pattern. Additional color changes were completed, proofs were printed and inspected, and shadows and highlights were added to the piece. On September 23, 2015, the final giclee print file was completed and approved by John August Swanson, and this file was delivered to Kolibri Art Studio in Torrance, CA.
On October 2, 2015, the first five giclee prints were delivered and approved by John August Swanson.
