Description

He drove Adam and Eve out of the Garden.
He placed the Cherubim with a flaming sword, which turned every way,
to guard the way to the tree of life.
Taken from Genesis 3:24, at the top left of the image is God’s Cherubim Angel, sword in hand, pointing at a fleeing Adam and Eve. The two run naked from the Angel and out of the Garden Of Eden, a blissful world shown in a kaleidoscope of bright colors and patterns.

John August Swanson’s 2016 giclee, ADAM AND EVE, revisits one of the artist’s earliest paintings from 1969. Enlarged in size and re-imagined in vivid colors, the new artwork is also enhanced with additional details and embellishments. To protect the image from ultraviolet light, a glossy UV-varnish was silk-screened over the artwork.

History Of The Image

ADAM AND EVE- History of the Image
I wanted to keep the original sense of playfulness and movement from my earlier works. The image had made an impression on me.
I wanted to both recapture my initial experience of creating the artwork, and add greater intensity to the work.
